RAINN is the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. It’s the nation’s only 24-hour, free and confidential hotline for survivors of sexual assault. Every two minutes, someone in America is the victim of a sexual assault. Statistics show that only about 28% of all rapes are reported. Since its inception, RAINN has helped over 500,000 people to “unlock the silence”. RAINN, recently named one of “America’s Best 100 Charities” by Worth magazine, was founded in 1994 by singer Tori Amos, herself a survivor of sexual assault. 

The SoCal RAINN Event takes place at 8:00 on Tuesday, August 13th, 2002 at a place called Sixteen-Fifty in Hollywood, CA. Sixteen-Fifty is a 21 and older venue, and used to be called Vynyl. It’s located at 1650 Schrader, right off of Hollywood Blvd. 

It’s a benefit concert and silent auction including performances by:

The silent auction with items donated from over a hundred local and nationally-known designers, hotels, airlines, corporations and other retailers, as well as lots of rare celebrity memorabilia. 

Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. They can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations or at their website, www.socalrainnevent.com.
