Joseph Gordon-Levitt,

and newcomer Brady Corbet will star in
Gregg Araki's indie drama "Mysterious Skin."
Based on Araki's adaptation of the Scott Heim novel, "Skin" centers on two boys who meet at age 18 and discover a common past that has shaped both of them in different ways. The story takes place in New York City and Kansas, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Elisabeth Shue will portray the mother of Gordon-Levitt's character, and
Michelle Trachtenberg will play his best friend. The project also stars
Bill Sage, Jeff
Licon, Chris
Mulkey, Billy
Drago, and Richard Riehle.
Antidote Films' Mary Jane Skalski
and Jeff Levy-Hinte will produce, with
Joshua Zeman as co-producer and Fortissimo Film Sales'
Michael J. Werner and
Wouter Barendrecht as executive producers.
Gordon-Levitt most recently starred in Jordan
Melamed's "Manic." Corbet stars in
"Thirteen," his feature debut, which opens on Friday. He will also portray one of the five sons in the big screen version of
"Thunderbirds" opposite
Bill Paxton and Ben Kingsley next year.
Mary Lynn plays
Avalyn in the film. An emotionally stunted 32-year-old who is
connected with a UFO community. She helps the young character
Brian decipher a dream that he had and points him into new
directions in a quest for answers about something that has happened
to him in the past concerning encounters with aliens.
"Skin" will begin shooting
soon in Los Angeles.
