Director: Paul Thomas Anderson. With
Adam Sandler, Emily Watson, Philip
Seymour Hoffman, Mary Lynn Rajskub, John C. Reilly; and other cast not
announced yet. New Line Cinema
has an untitled comedy project in the works by screenwriter Paul Thomas
Anderson, who has written and directed such greats as Magnolia and Boogie
Nights. So it doesn't surprise me to see Philip Seymour Hoffman
and Mary Lynn
in the lineup. However, Adam Sandler was not what I expected to see in
association with PTA. Will we see a profound dramatic side to
Adam? Hard to tell at this point, but as news comes down the pipe in
should be interesting.
The script was originally titled "Knuckle Sandwich",
but the script and the title has changed considerably sense it's inception.
There's a script review at Ain't
It Cool News. (2/3/01) The production title for this film is The
X-4 Project.
Not much is known yet about this except that it's a romantic comedy
between Sandler and Watson's characters. It was to have been about a
thief in love in 1967 Los Angeles, but that has since been scrapped.
It's unclear as to the type of character Mary
Lynn will play, or the scope of
involvement she will have in the project. But we will keep you updated
as soon as news becomes available.
Running Time: 105 minutes Distributor:
Columbia Pictures (Sony) Production
Company: Revolution Studios (with financing
from New Line Cinema) Filming: Production
started on this movie on February 1st, 2001 in Los Angeles. Sandler will
then move on to Deeds.
(3/2/01) Some filming (ten days) might be going on in Waikiki currently, but
that hasn't been confirmed yet. (3/7/01) And so it
has.
